About the Choir

St John’s Church, Ranmoor has a very strong musical heritage and one of the finest church choirs in the country.

We would welcome enquiries from anyone interested in becoming involved in the music at St John's. You can contact the Music Department by email music@stjohnsranmoor.org.uk  or by telephoning the parish office on 0114 2301199.

The Junior Choir (aged 5-9) rehearse every Monday evening and sing two Sunday services per month.

The Choristers (aged 8-16) rehearse on Monday and Wednesday and sing one service every Sunday. No experience required - Juniors and Choristers receive voice tuition and training in reading music.

We also have a Pop-up Choir which meets on the first Sunday morning of each month. This might suit any children who are interested in doing more singing but are not yet sure if they want to commit. Rehearsals start at 9.15am and you will be taught everything you need to be able to take part in the service at 10.30am.

There is more information on the children's choirs on this flyer.

The Choral Scholars (aged 14-18) rehearse on Wednesdays and sing one service most Sundays.

The Adult Choir rehearses on Wednesdays and sings one or two services each Sunday.  This would suit experienced singers with good reading ability.
