 Director of Music: Vacancy

Are you the person to lead us to the next stage in our flourishing musical ministry? This exciting opportunity is available from September 2017.

We are looking for an energetic, gifted, dynamic and caring Director of Music, to continue to grow our boys’, girls’ and adult choirs. Our ministry and mission through music is at the heart of our Church life and community. We are highly regarded across the region as a place of excellence for music.

Starting salary will be between £15k-18k (26hrs pw) depending on experience, plus wedding and funeral fees of up to £5k for those who are also able to play the organ. Possibility of subsidised accommodation.

We are open to applications both from people able to play the organ to a good standard (with a starting salary that reflects this) and from people whose primary expertise is in choral direction.

Consecration of the new Bishop of SheffieldThe consecration of The Very Revd Pete Wilcox as the new Bishop of Sheffield will take place at York Minster on Thursday 22nd June at 11am. The service is open for all to attend. No ticket is needed to be a part of the congregation. If you are intending to go so that York know approximately the numbers to cater for please let our Diocesan secretary know on consecration@sheffield.anglican.org

Wednesday Lunch Club -   If you would like to join us for a delicious lunch and some company please contact Claire in the office on 230 1199.

New boilers - The installation of the new boilers has now been completed. This work is part of our 5 year plan to make various physical improvements to the church building.  Sorry for any inconvenience that this installation has caused.

ConcertOn Saturday June 10th at 7:00pm we have a Summer Choral concert in the church involving all of our choirs.  Please put the date in your diaries and come along and support, and bring as many friends as you can!  It promises to be a very enjoyable event with beautiful music to enjoy as well a glass of fizz to celebrate the beginning of the summer. Tickets are £10 adults and £2.50 for children and concessions, which can be purchased at the Parish office or on the door.

Date for your diary- On the afternoon of Saturday 1st July we shall be having a musical concert in church at 4pm followed by a church BBQ on the Parish centre lawns. Please put this date in your diary and invite family and friends to join us. If there are adults or children who would like to play an instrument as part of the concert then do be in touch with Cathy on catherinestjohnsranmoor@gmail.com

Summer Bible Study 6th, 13th & 27th July; Journey through summer following in the footsteps of Jesus. This 3 week bible study course will look at some of the travels of Jesus and what we might learn from them in our lives as Christians. The Bible studies will take place at the vicarage at 7.15pm-8.30pm and will be led by Revd Neil. Please put your name on the sheet at the back of church if you are interested in attending. All are welcome.

Prayer Resource Area-There is now a new prayer resource area as you come in at the back of Church, which includes prayer cards that can be bought for just 10p each which you might like to buy for yourself or to give to someone. There are also books that can be borrowed giving guidance on prayer and a new prayer leaflet that can be used to walk around the church. There is also a prayer tree for you to hang your written prayers on.

Food bank Box- as a church we have a food bank collection box to put food in to support the Burngreave food bank. Our food bank box is now located near to the font.

Baby Basics – is a charity that supports new mothers and families who are struggling to meet the financial and practical burden of looking after a new baby.  We would welcome any donations of new baby wool for the box at the back of church. We have volunteers who are happy to knit clothing and blankets for new born babies.

Morning prayer at 8.30am every day except on Fridays & Sundays   This short (20mins) service takes place in the side chapel of church. A time to begin the day with  prayer and reflection. All welcome.

New Thursday Evening prayer service We now have a new Thursday  said evening prayer service  every week at 6.15pm. All welcome.

OPENING TIMES AT PARISH OFFICE The Parish office is open Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays 9am til 2pm.

Parish Magazine Out now!- The March issue of our Parish magazine ‘Inspire’ is out now at a cost of £1.Copies are available in church or from the parish office. If you would like to have your copy posted to you then this can also be arranged, please contact Claire in our Parish office.

Toddler & Baby Groups - Thursdays (in term time) from 10-11.30am at the Parish centre. All children from birth to pre-school welcome.  New children, parents and helpers always welcome.  Safe, carpeted room which is great for babies and crawlers.  £1.00 per child includes a drink and a biscuit for parent/carers and children.  50pmfor additional child.  A great way for parents and children to meet friends. What happens in our Parish Centre?

The Ranmoor Parish Centre is used by a wide variety of groups, meetings and celebrations.  Information about the regular users and details about the facilities available at the Centre can be found on the Parish Centre website.   Groups who regularly use the Centre include yoga, Pilates, art appreciation, local history, uniformed groups and singing for children and adults.  If you are interested in hiring our facilities, please get in touch.

Each week we produce a ‘News sheet’ that contains the service information, readings, gives the names of people to be remembered in our prayers and provides information about forthcoming events.  If you would like the ‘News sheet’ emailed to you, please send your name and Email address to Claire at administrator@stjohnsranmoor.org.uk.
