Our weekly News Sheet: Each week we produce a ‘News sheet’ that contains the service information, readings, gives the names of people to be remembered in our prayers and provides information about forthcoming events. The News Sheet is available every week on the website to download.
Christian Aid - The total raised by our volunteers in Ranmoor during Christian Aid Week was £4,138 plus Gift Aid (approximately £436), a total of approximately £4,575. There is still a little more money to come in. This is a tremendous result, (£600 more than last year) so hearty congratulations to all of you who worked so hard with great commitment, delivering and collecting envelopes and giving so generously. The sums raised in Christian Aid Week nationally account for the major part of the annual income of Christian Aid. Without the income from the house to house collection, two thirds of their projects could not be undertaken. So, thank you to everyone who gave their time and money so readily.
Social Evening ‘Through All the Changing Scenes of Health – The Life and History of a GP’ with Jenny Stephenson – Friday 8th June. ‘Dr Jenny Stephenson is a GP in Walkley having started there in 1985. The Practice itself has a fascinating history which is recounted in the first of Jenny’s history books with humour and honesty. She tackles the challenges of modern-day medicine alongside her patients, seeing how her work parallels that of the former Doctors but has challenges of a different kind. The talk will cover the medical and socio-political changes from when the Medical Centre was built, 1870, to the present, and will illustrate her current work with a number of interesting tranklements.’ Jenny’s book will be on sale for the roof appeal for £5 each. The evening will start at 7.30pm when strawberries and prosecco will be served. Tickets are £10 – all money raised towards the ceiling fund. Tickets available from the office.
Delicious baking by Gillian Stanley – Gillian will make cakes and cookies to order, just let Gillian know your requirements and give her a couple of days’ notice. All profits will go towards the church ceiling fund. Thank you Gillian Stanley, 0114 230 2941, firstname.lastname@example.org
Three Peaks Challenge – Carl Webber is walking The National Three Peaks Challenge in June which involves climbing the three highest peaks of Scotland, England and Wales, within 24 hours. The challenge includes 24 miles of hill walking separated by 2 long drives. Carl is raising money for Macmillan Cancer Research and would appreciate if you could sponsor him and his colleagues either via the just giving website https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/peseniorops3peaks or on the sponsorship form in the corridor. Thank you so much for your support.
