There are services throughout the week here at St John’s. Morning prayer is said everyday at 9am except Friday. There is a midweek communion on Wednesday’s at 10.30am and Choral Evensong Services on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 5.30pm. Everyone is welcome to all our services.
Wednesday Lunch Club – Every Wednesday from 12.15pm
There is a lunch club in the Parish Centre. A time to have a lovely 2 course lunch and time for friendship and fellowship. Helen Hall will be visiting after lunch on Wednesday 19th February to talk about Sunderland. The cost is £3.50 and lifts can be arranged. Why not give it a try? All are welcome, please let the Parish Office know if you would like to come.
Church Social evening – Monday 3rd March 7pm-9pm at the Parish centre
This will be the first of our monthly social gatherings together and is open to everyone. The evenings will be informal and a time for fellowship and Christian friendship. Every month there will be someone who will do a short informal talk about something of interest. At this first evening Revd Neil will share with us his ‘Christian journey to Ranmoor.’ Refreshments will be served. Why not invite a member of your family, a friend or a neighbour along?
Womens’ world day of prayer – Friday 7 March at 10.30am
The Joy of the Gospel: Lent Course – Wednesdays 7.30pm-9pm on the 12th March, 19th March, 26th March, 2nd April, 9th April in the Parish Centre. Exploring the place humility, respect and silence has in our Christian lives.
Christian Aid ‘Poverty and Pastries’ Meeting – Saturday 15 March 10.30am to 12noon at Central URC
Christian Aid would like to invite you to our annual Poverty and Pastries’ event. Everyone interested in the work of Christian Aid is welcome to come. We will be celebrating last year’s successes and looking towards Christian Aid Week 2014. The theme for this year is ‘Fear Less: Tackling violence and building peace’. We will be considering the work of Christian Aid partners in South Sudan, Syria and Iraq as well as hearing first hand from Poppy Winks (student and youth intern) about Christian Aid’s work in Columbia. Burngreave Food Bank
We are collecting for the Burngreave Foodbank. Please help feed local people in crisis by donating items to the food bank. A box is at the back of church and all dried food welcome, including powdered milk, rice, pasta, tinned meats, jam, cereals, soup, biscuits and snacks. Many Thanks for your continued support.
